"Authors in the Afternoon" featuring Kathleen O'Neal Gear and W. Michael Gear

Join us for the first in the “Authors in the Afternoon” series as we proudly host New York Times and Amazon best-selling authors and archaeologists W. Michael Gear and Kathleen O’Neal Gear. This dynamic husband-and-wife literary duo have over 17 million copies of their books in print worldwide, which have been translated into over twenty-eight languages. 

This event is available in-person and livestream. In-person tickets include beverage and light dessert, an intimate venue (50 max.), Q&A with the authors, and book signing (books will be available for purchase). Livestream attendees will receive instructions for joining prior to the event and will be able to ask questions during the Q&A via moderated chat (due to time constraints we cannot guarantee that all questions will be answered).

About the Authors 

The Gears keep busy not only by writing bestselling books, but also by accepting awards and recognition for their writing! Here is a sampling of their recent achievements:

  • Since 2019, Kathleen and Michael have both won the Western Writers of America's Owen Wister Award for lifetime contributions to the literature of the West, and both were inducted into the WWA's Western Writers' Hall of Fame
  • Kathleen's CRIES FROM THE LOST ISLAND placed first in the Young Adult category in the International Book Awards for 2021!
  • Michael's UNRECONCILED (a Donovan series book), placed first in the Science Fiction category in the International Book Awards for 2021!
  • In addition, Michael's DISSOLUTION, set partially in Denver, spent two months as a No.1 Bestseller on Amazon's Western Science Fiction list, and was also No.1 in Disaster Fiction.
  • In addition, Michael was informed that he will be inducted into the Colorado Authors' Hall of Fame in Denver on September 18th. This year we will also see the publication of 75th novel. 

Author Bios

W. Michael Gear has published nearly two dozen novels under his own name, and he has co-authored another 37 with Kathleen. His recently released books include: UNRECONCILED, FLIGHT OF THE HAWK: THE PLAINS, PARIAH, STAR PATH, and ALPHA ENIGMA. Michael’s amazing writing runs the gamut from historical, to prehistorical, to science fiction, to modern thrillers.

Kathleen O’Neal Gear has over 200 non-fiction publications in the fields of archaeology, history, and bison conservation, and she has authored or co-authored 47 international bestsellers. She has received numerous awards, both for her writing and for her work as an archaeologist. The U.S. Department of the Interior has twice awarded her a “Special Achievement Award” for outstanding management of America’s cultural resources. Kathleen’s most recent books include CRIES FROM THE LOST ISLAND, MAZE MASTER and PEOPLE OF THE CANYONS, which she co-authored with Michael. With the Spring 2021 publication of ICE LION, the first book in Kathleen’s much-anticipated cli-fi trilogy, she will have authored twelve novels under her own name.
